Embedding sustainable diets into urban food strategies: A multi-actor approach

Urbanization processes have been accompanied by a shift towards diets that placed increased pressures on the environment and human health. City governments are increasingly striving to address these challenges through policy focus “sustainable diets”. Using example of city Vienna (Austria), this paper adopts an innovative multi-actor approach unpack complexities involved in implementation core principles sustainable diets. The analysis data collected semi-structured interviews groups with key urban food system actors identifies place-based peculiarities drivers change not yet discussed within debates food. As we conclude, there important methodological implications emerging from our findings for both policy-makers researchers interested design, evaluation strategies contribute democratizing system.
